Pollution from failing septic tanks is common when the drainage field or soakaway becomes blocked and can no longer allow the effluent to percolate into the soil, septic effluent can often be seen ponding on the surface or appearing in ditches or streams.

Septic tanks discharge untreated liquid which has a high concentration of suspended solids, overtime the untreated effluent clogs the drainage field or soakaway leading to system failure and potential pollution.
